SIZING:

Sizes are approximate. Please measure largest part of head. Hats will stretch to fit the following sizes:

• Extra Small fits approximate 14-16” head circumference
  (average newborn – 3 months)
• Small fits approximate 16-18” head circumference (average 3 – 9 months)
• Medium fits approximate 18-19” head circumference (average 9 months – 3 years)
• Large fits approximate 19-20½” head circumference (3 years – 6 years although some adults have made the large for themselves!)

YARN/SUPPLIES:

Pattern written with Lion Brand, Vanna’s Choice; 100% acrylic; 100g/3.5oz, 156m/170yds; or
equivalent aran/heavy worsted (4) weight yarn.

Please note, yarn amounts are approximate. Allow for at least a 10% variance when purchasing yarn.

KITTY and PUPPY
Main color for hat, muzzle (if same color) and ears
• Extra Small: 65 yards
• Small: 85 yards
• Medium: 105 yards
• Large: 125 yards

KITTY only
Small amount of pink yarn for ears, nose, mouth and braids
Small amount of black yarn for eyes

PUPPY only
9 yards contrast color for muzzle
Small amount of black for eyes, nose and mouth

Small amount of polyester stuffing fiberfill, stitch marker, yarn needle, invisible thread (or thread to match kitty hat) and needle.

I/9 (5.50 mm) hook or size needed to obtain correct gauge, J/10 (6.00 mm) for puppy ears only

Pattern is written using US crochet terms.

GAUGE:

12 stitches and 13 rows = 4 inches in sc
Gauge is very important for proper sizing of the hat. Please take the time to check for proper gauge and adjust yarn or hook size as necessary. Gauge check points are given in the pattern.
